"You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make." - Jane Goodall
Imagine if we all started making small changes to our daily lives and the greater impact it would have on the environment at large. Inspired to do our part, read some of our Earth Day resolutions below.
1. Create less daily waste
The average American throws away approximately 185 lbs of plastic each year - that's insane! We're switching to these 3 reusable products - beeswax wrap, this glass coffee mug & unpaper towels - to cut down on the amount of plastic and paper we use on a daily basis. And it goes without question that we'll be recycling or composting whenever possible.
2. Walk or ride a bike
We realize this isn't as easy to do if you live in a spread out suburban or rural area, but for those of us in a city this is a simple way to take our part. And with all the new electric bike rental apps popping up - Jump Bikes
to name a few - it's a fun and faster way to get around, no matter how hilly your neighborhood is.
3. Eat less meat
From one cheeseburger lover to another, this is going to be a tough one. But after seeing all the data about the impact our meat obsession is having on the environment
, it's something we can't keep ignoring. So we're going to start small and jump on the "Meatless Monday
" bandwagon and opt for avocado instead of steak on our next salad. We're not giving up meat entirely, but will be more conscious of how much and what type of meat we eat - local, organic and grass fed / pasture raised are always best if available.
